Functional Strength

Functional Strength Training refers to types of exercises that focus on improving an individual’s ability to perform everyday tasks and movement by targeting the muscles and movements used in those activities. It involves a variety of exercises that engage multiple joints and muscle groups, often with an emphasis on stability, balance, and coordination. Functional strength training is an effective way to help you develop strength, endurance, and mobility while also reducing the risk of injury in your daily life. Each class is limited to 4 participants.

Sleepy Monkey Tai Chi

Sleepy Monkey is a school of thought, a way of approaching the challenges of life – a practice that allows us to gain clarity of thought, health within the body, and peace of mind. It incorporates zen meditation, tai chi body methods, and ancestral strength training tools such as the steel mace to awaken a powerful connection with one’s being. Students can choose to enroll in Sleepy Money Group Classes or one-on-one private sessions, all taught by Andrew Emsley. Students walk away with tools to use in everyday life for strength of mind and body.

Private sessions can include up to 3 individuals of the same party. Group classes are limited to 8 students and under.

Group Yoga

Restorative Flow

We are all experiencing stress in our lives which can lead to tension in our bodies. In this class, you will explore how to release those habitual tensions through centering meditations, breath awareness, mindful yoga movements and restorative poses. Join us and allow yourself this time to slow down, rest and relax your body and mind on purpose.

Vinyasa

Vinyasa yoga flows from one pose directly into the next, synchronizing breath and movement. In Vinyasa, we focus on dynamic movements and held postures, which make this practice the perfect combination of strength, cardio, and flexibility. Each class is as unique as the group attending, and students are encouraged to move at their own pace while guided by our instructors.

Slow Flow

Slow Flow Yoga is practiced with intention, incorporating breathwork, meditation and gentle asanas (poses) designed to relieve pain and tension, increase flexibility and joint mobility, as well as calm and quiet the mind. A great class for beginners and experienced yogis alike! Modifications are given throughout class.

Vin/Yin

Vin/Yin (Vinyasa/Yin) offers an ideal opportunity for physical, mental and emotional equanimity. Use the dynamic vinyasa flow to strengthen your body-mind-breath connection, and create space in your body and steadiness in your mind with the slower pace of your yin practice. This class welcomes all students and includes an array of options for personalizing your time on your mat.

Private Yoga

Private Yoga Sessions are an excellent introduction to yoga for beginners, and can be scheduled in our studio, or in your home! Our private sessions are taught by veteran yoga instructor, John Wojtowicz, who will begin your session with an interview to discuss your individual needs. John’s goal is for you to leave your first session with the tools to establish an at home practice.

Contact our front desk or email us at info@optimalmassage.com to schedule a session or to find out if private yoga is right for you!

Mat Pilates

Pilates Mat work is the foundation of the Pilates Method. Small group Mat Pilates classes will focus on muscle strength, joint stability, breathing, posture, and flexibility. Each class will include a series of exercises for the whole body; each exercise can be modified to increase or decrease the level of difficulty in order to meet individual needs.
